Women’s Lives in Morocco.
Many people know the life of women in Morocco only from soap operas. There, women have no rights, wear veils, and obey first their fathers and then their husbands obediently. This was certainly the case. Not long ago, Moroccan women rebelled against this situation and are now more free.
Here are some of their achievements. Morocco women live.
Women are now entitled to higher education (in the past, not everyone had access to secondary education).
Women now have the right to work (about 20% of doctors and teachers are women).
The age of marriage has increased (used to be 15, now it is 18).
In the event of divorce, children are no longer always with their fathers (in the past, children were considered the property of their fathers).
Marriage was no longer contingent on the father’s consent but required the bride’s consent..
One man could have four wives, but the written consent of his first wife was required to have a second wife.
As you can see, women have achieved great things and it is in Morocco that they are better off than in any other Arab country.
Education:
There are three levels of education for children in Morocco: preschool, primary and secondary. Each level has its own subtleties that are worth talking about.
Pre-school education:
This group includes children up to the age of six. At this level, children are taught to write and count. This education is given to children in Muslim schools or kindergartens. According to statistics, about 70% of boys and 50% of girls receive this education.
Primary Education:
As soon as a child reaches the age of six, he or she goes to school, where he or she receives what is called primary education. Here the foundations of science and humanities are laid.
A very big problem is children who do not have access to preschool education. Once they graduate from elementary school, they open the door to the third level of education. Therefore, children who cannot read and write have to struggle to get it.
Secondary Education:
Only those who have been able to obtain a certificate of primary education can access this section.
