The first day of 13 days Expedition Morocco and climbing Toubkal, you will go to the busiest place in the city – Djemaa el-Fna Square or “the place of the severed heads”. This place got its name in the 10th century when criminals were executed here. Today, the square is filled with souvenir and spice vendors, sailors in colorful costumes, and even snake charmers.

At night, it looks like a giant open-air restaurant. Street vendors offer even the most unusual delicacies, with roasted sheep’s heads and brains smoked in stalls, boiled snails scattered about, and a line for the famous aphrodisiac drink Hundjal.

you will start your second day with breakfast at the hotel, then meet with Our Local Guide, and visit the lush gardens of Marrakech. Visit the famous Jardin Majorelle, the garden of the French artist Jacques Majorelle, later bought by the famous fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent. On its territory, the ashes of the legendary fashion designer were scattered and a small monument was installed.

You can also visit the Koutoubia Mosque, the largest mosque in Marrakech, whose 69-meter-high minaret became the prototype of the Giralda in Seville and the Hassan Tower in Rabat. Visit the exquisite Bahia Palace and the famous Saad dynasty tombs, as well as the residence of Marrakech’s Grand Vizier, Sy Ahmed, built in the late 19th century. Stroll through Jemaa el-Fna Square.

Departure to Ouarzazate, the “Gate of the Great South”where you will visit the “Atlas” film studio. Via the High Atlas Mountains. Transfer to the town of Boumalne du Dades.

After breakfast, Drive to Tinghir along the scenic mountain road between the Dades and Todra gorges. Enjoy panoramic views of the mountain river and the Todra Canyon. You will see impressive 250 m high cliffs overhanging the riverbed.

Passing the Tingir palm grove, you will pass through the breathtaking pass between the Dades and Todra canyons. Drive to Zagora and visit the Draa Valley on the way. As you progress, the dry and lifeless landscape of the rocky desert is replaced by the lush green palm groves sparkling in the sun. This emerald swathe of lush vegetation was created by the Draa River, Morocco’s longest river, which feeds its waters into the Zagora.

breakfast at hotel, Short trip in Zagora, then transfer to Tamagrut. This is the last oasis that welcomes caravans before the endless desert. Following the Draa River you will cross one of the most beautiful oases of Morocco – Palmeria.

Continue your journey 13 days Expedition Morocco and climbing Toubkal, , arriving in M’Hamid where lunch will be served at a local restaurant at 13:00. At this stage of the journey you will see the first dunes of the great Sahara – Erg Chegaga. Part of the transfers on this day will be by all-terrain vehicle with four-wheel drive. As you approach the camp, you will be able to change to camels. In the evening you will stop at the Standard bivouac for a traditional Berber dinner with live music by a local band. Here you will experience a unique taste of life near the world’s largest desert. Be sure to admire the beautiful night sky, as the stars seem much brighter and closer in the Sahara.

One of the highlights of your Morocco desert tours will be crossing the dusty whitish bed of the vast dry lake Iriki. In the M’duar Mountains, you’ll conduct your own archaeological excavation, searching for cephalopod and marine mollusk fossils dating back more than 90 million years.

After a short stop in Iriqui, the tour continues along the scenic mountain road to the town of Foum Zgid. This section of the route is one of the parts of the Paris-Dakar Rally where the challenging sections of the route alternate with easier and more leisurely ones. Lunch at a local restaurant in Foum Zgid.

Familiarization tour of the kasbah in Ait Ben Haddou. Located in one of the most fortified and perfectly protected villages in southern Morocco. This kasbah is an excellent example of traditional Berber architecture. At the end of the 20th century, it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The films Pearl of the Nile and Lawrence of Arabia were filmed here. Transfers on this day will be by all-terrain four-wheel drive vehicle.
